I also enjoyed the unit veterancy mechanic. It makes supporting strike craft with support escorts important. It makes it important to scout for and intercept them before they hit. It makes them an excellent unit to hit and run but with poor staying power. Limited fighter munitions is like the perfect solution for the 'why are strike craft different' issue. It was a far better way to differentiate fighters than HW1s fuel, which was just annoying but at least somewhat kept the need for escort carriers, or HW2s squads, which were weird. It completely changed the dynamic of fighters into a heavy hitter alpha strike unit that then had to retreat to rearm. I think one of my favorite mechanics in it is the fighter missiles. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits.
